What is the Belly Boutique?
The Belly Boutique now serves two different purposes. As before the Belly Boutique is a collection of Middle Eastern treasures. Primarily the boutique offers belly dance costuming for the oriental, tribal, fusion, and gypsy style dancers. There are costume pieces from the basic - for beginning students; to elaborate full oriental costumes - for the experienced or professional dancer. As well, other delightful items from lands afar, are brought in for individuals who simply love exotic things. Purses, wall hangs, scarves, ornaments, perfume bottles, scents etc. from India and Egypt, will be available occasionally. I have down-sized the Boutique and will now offer items for sale from my home, by appointment only. You will also find the Belly Boutique vending at events from time to time.
Secondly, the Belly Boutique site will serve as my students' site to access class choreography notes, music, and Soul Dancing exercises. Students will be given instructions in class as to how to access the notes and music. The Soul Dancing exercises are available under the Soul Dancing pages.
What makes Belly Boutique merchandise so special?
I am very fortunate to have a personal shopper / exporter in India who purchases unique belly dance items from all regions of India for a number of businesses - the Belly Boutique included. Josie is the kindest person I have met in a long time. She spends her time and some of her profit assisting single women, single mothers, and children to make a living. Josie assists on a small scale but makes a huge difference in several individual's lives. She purchases their handy wear at fair market value to sell to the businesses she is shopping for. So when you buy something form the Belly Boutique you know that it was purchased from its creator with the utmost love and good intent - to help them survive. It is my hope to travel with her on a buying trip some day.
